The prerequisites for this course are minimal, however some basic knowledge of ecology, earth sciences and basic math would be beneficial. An interest in the environment and a willingness to learn about the current state of the environment, the causes of environmental degradation, and the efforts being made to address these issues is required. No prior experience in environmental science is necessary, but a general understanding of science concepts would be beneficial. Additionally, basic computer skills and internet access will be required for some online resources and assignments.

Every lesson in this course is divided into several sections. The first section will provide an overview of the topic, the second section will explore the topic in more detail, the third section will focus on the impacts of the topic, the fourth section will cover the solutions and mitigation strategies for the topic, the fifth section will focus on environmental justice.
